USAA , a San Antonio-based financial services provider that serves military personnel and their families, is planning to open an Addison service center with 200 anticipated new jobs, the company is expected to announce today.

The center is set to open in the second quarter of 2011, and the hiring is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.

Employees at the center will offer advice on investment, retirement and life insurance by phone, Internet and video. They will also provide face-to-face wealth management services by appointment.

"We're pretty excited about the Dallas marketplace," said Wayne Peacock, USAA's executive vice president of member experience.

USAA has similar centers in San Antonio; Tampa , Fla.; Phoenix; and Colorado Springs, Colo., he said.

One reason USAA chose North Texas as the new center's location was the availability of job candidates with the required investment registrations, Peacock said. Other reasons included the center's proximity to USAA members and the local cost of living.

In addition, Addison is offering financial incentives to USAA. Details have yet to be disclosed.

"Their center can generate more jobs and tax revenue for the Addison economy," said Joe Chow, mayor of Addison. "It's not easy to get a big company to consider your city."

USAA provides insurance, banking, investment and retirement products and services. With nearly $9 billion in revenue during the first six months of 2010, it has about 22,000 employees and 7.8 million members.

USAA, which is member-owned, is open to all who are serving or have honorably served in the U.S. military, as well as to their families.
